Accept the Challenge--Be a MAN

Accept the Challenge –Be a MAN!

Some “men” really are not men. Yet, some “boys” really are men. Let’s look at the Biblical definitions of a man: he provides for his family (1 Timothy 5:8), he is a servant leader (Eph. 5), he is humble (1 Peter 5:5), he is committed to Christ, (Phil. 3:12-14), and he is diligent (Heb. 6:11). There are many more Biblical qualities of a man, but we do not have enough space to go into them all.

"No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” Luke 16:13 KJV

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” 1 Corinthians 13:11 KJV

Are you obedient, submissive, and dependent to the Father? Are you bold, confident, and sure of your Faith in Christ? Men . . . .  and boys, you like a challenge, don’t you? Here’s one: accept the challenge of genuine manhood. You can never be perfect, but by God’s grace you can improve, grow and learn (from the Holy Spirit and Scripture). Dwell on these character traits of manhood below, really think about what they mean. You might even want to write down ways to apply the two or three that you need most right now.

V  Humility               Initiative                 Motivated

Look for the Light

“Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the Lord hath spoken. Give glory to the Lord your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness. But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the Lord’s flock is carried away captive.”

Jeremiah 13:15-17 KJV

This verse depicts our salvation accurately, although this was not the original intent. As we refuse to seek the Lord and to listen to Him we invariably embrace ourselves, our pride. We must give glory to God or we will find darkness and we will stumble; yea, we may even fall. In this struggle, we may look frantically for the Lord’s light, but in correction, He only shows us the shadows of death. If you won’t listen to God, Believers will grieve for you. They grieve because they know that you have ceased listening to and pursuing and the Lord, you are in darkness and because of this have been taken captive either for a season, to learn and be disciplined; or for eternity. . . .

Do You Remember to Love?

Do You Remember to Love?

God is love (1 John 4:8). But this love is much deeper than just a good feeling; likewise, it is not a physical or emotional concept, but rather a spiritual. Can you grasp that? Do you understand that? It is an amazing concept! God keeps us on track: He disciplines and waits for us because He loves us; He administers justice and refuses to forsake us in our hour of darkest need; He gives us peace and joy. He is Holy. He is Awesome. He is God. All these and more are marks of God’s character. Please, REMEMBER that God is love, but I also challenge you to go a step farther than just knowing that and to live a loving life with the Holy Spirit as your Counselor and Guide (1 Cor.13, Gal. 5).

V  Take some time in a still and quiet place to meditate about what God’s love really is and how you can share it.
