For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a
devil.
19 The
Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and
a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her
children.
Matt 11:18-19 (KJV)
John the Baptist was a Nazarite—he never cut his hair and did
not drink anything of the vine. Jesus came eating with sinners, drinking wine,
and Jesus was called a glutton, a drunkard, and a friend of “the outcasts.” Are
you labeling others wrongly? Sin is sin, yes. But many were offended at Jesus
and made up a list of sins that He hadn’t committed.
