1 Timothy 6:10-11

For the love of money is the root of all evil:

Not having money, but loving it is the root of all evil. As I’ve heard it said you can have $1 million dollars or $1 and you are in trouble either way if you love money. But if you don’t love money, you can be content with whatever the Lord has given you. This isn’t to say that financial savvy, wisdom, or making money is evil for God’s Word says much about earning money, managing wealth and debt. But the love of money—that is the root of evil that devours a heart and life of a man.

which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

There have been people, yea there still are! That have coveted—that is greedily and lustfully desired—money. Because of that heart disposition, they have erred from the Faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. Massive debt, securities, anxieties, stress, insomnia, health disorders, confusion, mental anguish, and other such sorrows of placing one’s heart upon riches.

True riches from the Lord are not sorrowful (a burden).

The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

Prov 10:22 (KJV)

11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

But thou, O godly reader and O pastor, flee these hollow and dangerous things. Instead, set your heart upon righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience and meekness; in short, set your love upon the Lord and His character.
