Faith

Faith

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Heb 11:1 (KJV)

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Heb 11:6 (KJV)

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Romans 12:3 (KJV)

Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. I’m sure you’ve seen this many places. Have you ever seen a Hindu, Islamic, or Buddhist doing their ritualistic chants—you know that they have faith because it is evidenced by what they do. It is not saving faith in Christ Jesus, but none the less it is faith. You can’t see someone’s faith, it is a substance of something you’re hoping for and evidence of things not seen.

Jesus is the object of your Faith. The Holy Spirit is transforming us and conforming us to the image of Christ. All this is evidenced by our good works that now come from a heart full of love for our Master. That is faith. Faith is not merely belief, as many teach. Faith is precisely what God defines it in Romans 11:1—nothing more and nothing less.

Without Faith it is impossible to please God. The one who comes to God must believe that God exists AND that He rewards those who diligently seek Him. Do you believe God exists? That is a necessary requirement of Faith in Him. Do you believe that God rewards those who diligently seek Him? You must if you have Biblical Faith.

Lastly, God has dealt to each Believer a certain measure (amount) of Faith. But even a mustard seed of Faith can move mountains! Don’t try to “enlarge” your Faith through unbiblical teachings or practices. Increase your Faith by walking with the Lord and digging into His Word.
