Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against
the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
O Timothy, charging them to do good works and give generously will lay
up for them a good store to come later. They will be better prepared for what
life will be like in Heaven and most importantly, they will lay hold on eternal
life if they have fought the fight, stayed faithful to their Savior and known
the Lord.
20 O
Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and
vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: 21 Which some professing have
erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
Now the quiet ending, O Timothy, the beloved spiritual son of Paul—keep
that which is committed to thy trust. Avoid profane and vain babblings. Avoid
and pay no attention to oppositions of science falsely so called—sociology,
psychology, evolution, astrology and so forth. Some have erred concerning the
faith in these areas…. The Grace of God be with thee. Amen.
Paul’s short little prayer and exhortation here in the last verse is of
great importance to us dear readers, so much is contained in it. Like Timothy,
we need to keep that which is committed to our trust. Avoid profane and vain
babblings and oppositions of science falsely so called. Some have erred in
these areas though they profess Faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
