A Comparison Based on the
Scripture
The Virtuous woman of the
Scriptures is personified in Ruth, Hannah, and Abigail, whereas, the harlot is
personified in Jezebel, Gomer, Potiphar’s and Delilah. In addition, we see
these characterizations further symbolized in Christ’s pure and spotless Bride,
the unfaithful daughter Israel, and the “woman” Babylon the Great.
The Virtuous woman cares first and
foremost for her home. She is her husband’s helper and companion. It is no
secret that women are physically weaker than men and more sensitive
emotionally. God has created the woman with a specific calling: the home. O how
wonderful the Christian home is when she is obedient to the Scriptures! When
disobedient, however, feminism abounds, unbiblical church leadership is often
seized, and children suffer. Today, we even see Scripturally-disobedient women
going so far as seeking to fight in the armed forces. God strictly forbids
this: look at the story of Deborah and Barak (Judges 4). Barak would not fight
unless Deborah came along, so Deborah told him that he would not receive any
honor for victory. In addition, for over 6,000 years of human history nations
have not sent women into battle, it was understood that men are to be providers
and protectors. In the last couple of hundred years, this is unraveling due to
feminism. God’s design is:
…teach the young women to be sober,
to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their
own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. Titus 2:4-5 (KJV)
