Purity and a Couple of its Aspects

     This month’s topic is on purity. We (Ryan and me) taught the 1st grade Royal Rangers what purity was. But when we first asked if they new what pure meant; they had no idea, at least off the top of their head. When you think of what's pure a common thing to come to mind is water. Water can be pure or filthy. So why is purity so important? Well if you look at Mathew 5:8 it says the pure are blessed because they will see God.

  Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

 In the books of the Law there were all kinds of rules for the eating habits of the Jewish people that would determine whether you were pure or not. We know the Law was designed to keep you safe and healthy; and those eating guidelines were to keep you healthy, but Jesus made it pure when he died on the cross. Now that doesn't mean it’s healthy to eat 9 hot dogs a day. That is still not good for you but it is not impure.


Another kind of purity is sexual purity. I could go for hours on this but I think I'll just talk about the two of them that the media and government say are okay but really are a problem. The first is in the ten commandments

Thou shalt not commit adultery. Exodus 20:14 (KJV)

Adultery as I've always seen it is sex outside of marriage; however, I'll talk more about this in a little bit. Another is homosexuality. Yes, people, homosexuality is a sin—that fact is mentioned several times in the Bible.
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

     In this version it said effeminate but in more recent versions it says homosexual. However I think that one verse sums it up pretty well. That phrase "shall not inherit the kingdom of God." That sums it up perfectly. In the beginning it was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

      Another one is sex outside of marriage. In today’s media, impurities are everywhere and it's really screwed up this generation. Media portrays life’s goal as to have sex with as many people as you can, and it's okay if you do. It was put to me like this if you take the fire out of the fireplace, you burn the whole house down.
