Wisdom—God gives
generously
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to
all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5 KJV
I
remember a time when I asked God for wisdom after a touching devotion at JTT (Junior
Training Trails—a leadership training camp for Royal Rangers). I prayed to God
for wisdom and in the midst of that prayer, God spoke to my heart. He gave me a
personal promise that is both an encouragement at times and a struggle to
believe at others (kind of like Abraham, I guess). The point is that I knew
that I needed wisdom and I asked for it, and in the middle of my communication
with God, He spoke. I didn’t ask Him to speak, yet He spoke in His small, still
voice to my heart.
James 1:5 is a promise that you can receive
wisdom from God as well. He will direct you in the way that you should go
(Isaiah 48:17). God is a big God and He can come up with unique ways to get His
point across to you, so don’t worry; just have Faith in Him and ask Him for the
wisdom that you need.
