Attention
“O that thou hadst hearkened to my
commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the
waves of the sea: Thy seed also had been as the
sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should
not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.”
Isaiah 48:18-19 KJV
If only you had
paid attention to His commands….The Lord warns us again and again throughout
both testaments of Scripture to pay attention to Him and His ways as we follow Him.
He says this because He knows that left unchecked we will begin to go back to
the comfort/familiarity of our old life or invent our own personal exceptions
and excuses for our trespass. But there are no exceptions with God. All things
He has said are true and eternal! We must obey, it’s not a just a onetime choice
to follow Christ, but a lifelong-lifestyle, if is daily crucifying ourselves,
shouldering our cross and following Jesus. May you pay attention and not have
to be punished for not paying attention.
