A Spirit of Power, of Love, and of a Sound Mind
By Kenneth “Trey” Zimmerman

“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou
an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit,
in faith, in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12 KJV
This month I’m talking about how we set an example in
spirit. In 2 Timothy 1:7 it says “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;
but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (KJV).” What this verse is
saying is that we shouldn’t be afraid, because we have a Spirit of Power from
God. He has also given us a Spirit of Love so we can love others (refer to last
month’s issue for a better understanding of love). In addition, we have a
Spirit of Faith according to 2 Corinthians 4:13 which says “We having the same
spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I
spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak (KJV).” I’ll be covering more on
Faith next month, but what this verse says is that we have a Spirit of Faith,
and with that Spirit we speak the Scriptures, believing Jesus is the son of
God. We can set an example in spirit by exercising Faith and Love to the people
around us.
