Mis-Snipped Hair

Mis-Snipped Hair

Witnessing is not about some fancy plan or just knowing some questions to ask. Witnessing at its heart is simply sharing Christ with others. Sometimes it may mean a bold and persistent message of the cross, sin, and the reality of Hell. Other times it may mean loving kindness and compassion that gently leads a soul to Christ. One is not better than the other, for both are in Scripture and neither is given preference. The following short illustration came to my mind while in a Bible Study. May you be spurred on!

There was a woman, a Christian, who went to have her hair cut at the salon. As she was chatting with the young lady cutting her hair, the Holy Spirit prodded the woman to share Christ. She did. And as she explained the Gospel and all that Jesus suffered and endured so that we could have fellowship with God, the young lady began to cry. Tears streamed down her face as she listened and cut the woman’s hair. As the young lady was making her last cut, she was overwhelmed by the love of Christ and made a mis-snip on the woman’s hair.

The young lady fell to her knees, overwhelmed and the Christian woman led her to Christ and then just held her in her arms for a good long while. After some time, the young lady was not longer sorrowful (….) but had the joy of the Lord radiating from her.

As the woman paid for her haircut, the young lady gasped and apologized for the prominent mis-snip that she made. The woman responded, “I does not matter, this mis-snip represents you—a soul that has come to know the Lord. I will proudly carry it with me for the short time that it will be there.”

Mis-snipped hair can represent a lot.
