Matthew 27:50-53 NIV

“And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.”

Does this verse amaze you or what? If it doesn’t please read it again! When Jesus died tombs BROKE OPEN, but that wasn’t the only amazing part, holy people WERE RAISED FROM THE DEAD!  If this Scripture is not a representation of miracles then I don’t know what is. Ever sense God allowed me to “catch” this verse while I was reading; I have had a sense of awe when I think about how my Lord’s death literally set other people free from death. Likewise, we are set free when Christ comes into us and an entire campaign is begun by the Holy Spirit to conform us to the image of Christ and to destroy our flesh by sacrificing it on the cross.

In addition, these dead people who were miraculously raised from the dead “…WENT INTO THE HOLY CITY AND APPEARED TO MANY PEOPLE.” How long do you think you would have lasted talking with somebody that had been dead for who knows how long?! What about just looking at them?!

Today, think about the greatness of our God! Think of what Jesus’ sacrifice did for us and for others, and don’t forget the POWER of His death—the power of Jesus’ death is amazing!
